Our client’s IT teams are dedicated to supporting a mission-driven approach by developing applications and products that cater to our customers’ needs. They are currently seeking a Software Engineer Specialist who is enthusiastic about software evolution and innovation within our client’s Investment Technology team. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying modern engineering principles to create and deliver software to the market. 

As a “Hands-on” Developer in this role, your primary responsibilities include showcasing technical expertise and employing standard methodologies within their software development team. You will collaborate closely with our client’s Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Architects to identify and implement solutions, which will then be delivered to clients through Agile development. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create tools that provide practical insights and enhance operational efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and partners to deliver maximum value to our client’s Clients. 
  • Automate manual processes to improve productivity and ensure data consistency. 
  • Contribute to Software Engineering solution development and continuous delivery (CI/CD). 
  • Develop technical designs and requirements to support secure and scalable software development while maintaining quality. 
  • Demonstrate expertise in developing within a Cloud environment and possess a strong understanding of cloud/AWS infrastructure. 
  • Identify innovative ideas, build consensus for adoption, and execute them effectively. 
  • Participate in resolving complex technology/software issues, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions. 
  • As part of a team, provide on-call support, with occasional overtime as needed. 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferable), Finance, or Business is required. 
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a development role (Java/Python/C#) is required. 
  • Work experience with Spring Boot – Java 8, Maven, Jenkins, SVN, GIT, Postman/Newman, Swagger, REACT (*.js) tool, RESTful Services, and Messaging Services (MQ, Kafka). 
  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases. 
  • Broad knowledge of software engineering and testing practices & methodologies. 
  • Must have knowledge/experience with Agile/SAFE practices. 
  • Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P, and/or State Street software is a plus. 
  • Experience at a Financial Services/Asset Management firm is a plus. 
  • Experience using OpenShift, MuleSoft, and any Rules Engine, including experience in AWS technologies, will be an added advantage. 
  • Experience with R/MatLab/Python ML packages is a plus.

This position offers a hybrid work environment and may be in New York, Kansas City, MO, Santa Clara, CA, or DFW/Southlake, Texas. Candidates hired outside of KCMO can expect occasional travel, at least once per quarter, to Headquarters (KCMO) or other locations.
