The Change Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring that project objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively. This role is centered on managing the human aspects of change, including updates to business operations, technologies, roles, and organizational structures. The main duties involve developing and executing strategies and plans that promote staff acceptance and minimize pushback. This role does not include direct supervision but requires collaboration across the company. The specialist will guide senior leaders and support managers in navigating change, while also incorporating change management efforts into overall project planning.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Applies a structured methodology and leads change management activities
  • Assesses the change impact
  • Completes change management assessments
  • Creates change management strategy
  • Identifies, analyzes, and prepares risk mitigation tactics
  • Identifies and manages anticipated resistance
  • Consults and coaches project teams
  • Creates actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan
  • Supports communication efforts and training efforts
  • Provides support for and engages senior leaders
  • Coaches managers and supervisors
  • Supports organizational design and definition of roles and responsibilities
  • Coordinates efforts with other specialists
  • Integrates change management activities into project plan
  • Evaluate and ensures user readiness
  • Manages stakeholders
  • Tracks and reports issues
  • Defines and measures success metrics and monitors change progress
  • Supports change management at the organizational level, Enterprise Change Management
  • Manages the portfolio and change load

Skills and qualifications

  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process; experience with Prosci ADKAR® Model is a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Articulates messages to a variety of audiences
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships
  • Influences others to move toward a common vision or goal
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations

  • Change management certification or designation desired; Prosci Certification a plus
