We are seeking an experienced Senior IBM i Solutions Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other Solution Architects and various teams within the organization to consult with clients, design tailored IBM i solutions, and drive the professional services and managed services business forward. This role requires a deep understanding of IBM i systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Consults with Clients: Engages with clients alongside the Solution Architect team to understand their business requirements, challenges, and objectives. Conducts thorough assessments to identify opportunities for leveraging IBM i solutions effectively.
- Designs IBM i Solutions: Develops comprehensive IBM i solutions tailored to meet client requirements. Utilizes expertise in IBM i architecture, systems integration, and software development to design innovative solutions aligned with client goals.
- Drives Professional Services Business: Partners with our Professional Services team and fellow Solution Architects to accurately scope services engagements. Provides technical expertise and guidance to ensure proposed solutions are deliverable and meet client needs effectively.
- Technical Leadership: Collaborates with other Solution Architects to collectively serve as subject matter experts on IBM i systems and solutions. Assumes the role of Subject Matter Expert or Quality Practitioner during IBM Technical Delivery Assessments, providing guidance and mentorship within the team to maintain high standards of technical excellence.
- Business Development: Works with the Solution Architect team and sales teams to identify opportunities for expanding the professional services and managed services business. Contributes to proposal development and client presentations to win new business.
- Stays Current: Stays abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to IBM i systems and solutions. Continuously enhances skills and knowledge through collaboration with the Solution Architect team and individual learning initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent educational experience.
- Proven experience as an IBMi Solutions Architect or similar role.
- Prior experience as a System Engineer is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of IBMi systems, including hardware, operating systems, and software components.
- Knowledge of RPG, CL, SQL, and other IBMi programming languages and IBMi integration technologies such as MQ, DB2, and WebSphere.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
- Certification in IBMi systems administration or architecture (preferred).
